The
Women in Recovery Program is housed at rented facilities known
as Genesis Acres. Here, women are growing in the Lord,
becoming reunited with their children, and entering society
again. All exciting benchmarks in their lives; however,
these times are also frightening for them. Many of them have
never had the opportunity to live clean and sober, or to parent their children.
At Genesis Acres, we are working to educate each woman in Biblical
truths to build a solid foundation on which to transform
their lives. Without Jesus, life is frightening: with Him, ALL
things are possible. Each week, our women complete a schedule of
programming and other activities.
Thanks for your support!
Marla would like to acknowledge and thank the following
for their recent support of our Women's Life Transformation
Program...
Amee Rexford and her "crew" for planting
flowers at Genesis Acres, and for helping our women plant
hanging flower baskets along their carports.
Men's
Breakfast team from Westwood Baptist Church for cleaning
gutters and roofs at Genesis Acres.
Izzy's Pizza for
providing a complimentary lunch to women in the Life
Transformation Alumni support Group.
These activities include, but are not
limited to:
*Bible study
*Christian Nurturing Parenting classes
*Genesis Process Counseling
*Individual spiritual discipleship
*Community meeting
*12-step recovery meetings
In addition to these on-site meetings at Genesis Acres, each woman
must attend a Celebrate Recovery meeting at a local church. Church attendance
is mandatory. The Program Manager attends church
services at least once at each of these churches to familiarize
herself with local churches.
Curfew is at 9 p.m., unless prior permission is given to extend
curfew. Each
woman completes household chores, plans meals and schedules bedtimes for their children. They also
perform assigned chores here at the Genesis Acres office,
and in the Mission's kitchen.
Genesis Acres has housing for three single women and trailers for
four women with children. It is so awesome to see each woman growing
in the Word, and in their lives.
They
are like a bouquet of roses, some opening, some still in bud, but
all beautiful.
Current needs at Genesis Acres include babysitting during evening
Bible Study and mentors for the women and their children. Families
may “adopt a family” and include them in their family outings, or
sponsor a special family activity for the women, as not all have
cars, and all are on limited budgets.
If you are interested in getting help, we
are looking for women who want to grow in the Lord, and who have a
desire to live life free of addictions and other life controlling
issues.
