August 2008 I first want to express my deep appreciation to you, our donors, for your continued support during these financially challenging times. Like you, the Mission is facing increasing fuel costs to pick up and deliver furniture, gather donated food and clothing, and in transporting clients. Businesses who in the past have been able to donate items like eggs, coffee, meat, and other items are now having to ask us to help them pay for the product. So we are feeling the pressure at multiple levels. But all things are possible through our faith in God, and by pulling together.
In mid-September, Care Net Pregnancy Center of Thurston County
will begin using a portion of our new medical space to offer free
pregnancy tests and counseling. In the future, they hope to add
testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases. We are also looking into
options for audiology and limited medical care. Having our new facility is such a blessing. It opens up so many options for service. The meal count has increased by 10%, and being able to open up the overflow space for feeding during lunch and dinner takes considerable pressure off of the staff and clients. All of us at the Mission wish you and your family members a summer filled with joy. We hope you enjoy it all the more knowing you are making a difference in the lives of many. |
