Sharing The Love Of Jesus Christ: Restoring & Transforming Lives
The Olympia Union Gospel Mission began its work with the homeless and needy in 1995 through a street ministry outreach. Sandwiches and hot drinks were offered in an atmosphere of love and acceptance. Our goal was and still is to share God’s love in practical ways.
Today, the Olympia Union Gospel Mission has numerous programs. Hundreds of men and women are served each week and OUGM is still sharing God’s love in practical ways. At the same time, we work to help individuals break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
Meals, hygiene and addiction recovery services are ways we reach out to make a difference in people’s lives. Hot meals is one of the most powerful tools for sharing the Gospel with people in need because food is a tangible way to show God’s love (Luke 10:27).
Helping Change Our Society: One Person at a Time
The Olympia Union Gospel Mission is about people – like you and me – with one big difference; the people we work with are homeless and poverty stricken. One of the ways every one of us are alike, regardless of our status, is our need for dignity, self-worth and respect.
Our commitment is to respect each person we meet and to demonstrate God’s love in practical ways.
There are many reasons why people become homeless and poor. We do not judge their reasons. Rather, we seek to help them find ways to become godly, productive members of society. In order for us to accomplish this task, many things must happen. There must be a place where men, women, boys and girls feel safe and find they are loved and accepted as they are.
